After completing nine batches of Summer Soaps, we set about updating our website to give you pictures with descriptions of all the new soaps.  This is a lengthy process, we gather related materials for each soap to be photographed, we use a table that swivels to adjust the lighting ( I prefer natural outdoor light over high voltage studio can lights), some of the soaps are photographed using some of the raw materials that went into their making.  Ok, you get the general idea....I have a large amount of stuff, outdoors, in June and begin to take pictures...everything is going really well, getting some nice light (it is early in the morning and the light is great because there is a slight overcast) the soaps are behaving pretty well and then I get to the Ferns of Muir Woods Soaps....I gaze around and see the pretty newly sprouting fern fiddles right in front of me...so I stack a couple of the FMW soap on a few pebbles in front of the fern and lay down to get a good perspective and closeup shot...oh, this will be a great shot, fern fiddle, mossy little rock, I am changing the lens settings to macro to really zoom in...click...not quite right and a bit out of focus....click....better, but not getting the fern fiddle in the right part of the pic., I squirm over a bit to adjust my angle on the shot, soap begins to slide off rock, fix that...ready, focus...sphhhhhhhhhh...what the  !!!!!   Water spraying directly in face, all over soap, SPRINKLER SYSTEM GOES ON.....a totally GOT ME moment, I try to compose myself and be in the moment ~ take a pic ...but NO! ~ MY CAMERA is getting really wet ....get out, get UP, RUN!!!  Laughter, stupid look on face....throwing of towel over sprinkler head and one more picture.  That is the picture ....out of focus but with a story...sometimes those moments are the best ones.  It made me think that The "other" Ferns of Muir Woods would have liked a nice dewy morning, they would have been all about enjoying the moment, and so that is why I felt the picture should be used ~ as is.  The soaps just get used in my shower/bath after the photo shoot and I must say they are really nice soaps....the fragrance is musky, with the feeling of being near the ocean that comes through from the kelp used, the day was just starting and there are more pics to be taken, updated and shared with you.....hope you enjoyed your day, your NOW!  With LOVE ~ Terra Soaps

Getting back into the Soap Studio can mean lots of things, sometimes I just get to work...mixing up my soaps that I usually have in stock, replenishing my inventory.  The magic happens on those days when there is nothing pressing to make and the imagination kicks in, the real alchemist in me can emerge.  Those days are MAGIC!
Today I will be finishing up making two floral soaps: Plumeria and Jasmine. Making floral soaps can be tricky since the fragrance oils tend to "seize" and make the soap non-pourable (which is a very bad thing), this is what I call making soap with "running shoes" ON!  You gotta move fast, have your oils very cool and really be aware of when you reach light trace.  If you are interested in how to make cold process soap yourself, please check out the videos I have posted here by the Soap Queen/Brambleberry they are well made and very informative.
Well off to the Soap Studio ~ have a great day!

Every Horizontal surface is covered with curing soaps, as you can see this is what getting ready for market means around my house.  Labeling frenzy will soon ensue.

Web design is much easier than it was 5 years ago!  I might just say good - bye to the old website and really use this!  Gotta get some products photographed and we will be up and running.  Hope you like the new look!

Happy New Year & New Website design for Terra Soaps!  My old website is still up ~ but closed for renovations.
Really I am just not happy with the way it looks so I am going with weebly, seems easy to use and will hopefully get my new soaps and products uploaded and get opened in the next week.
